WHO WE ARE
Independence through community, learning & action.
Visionaries The Blind in Action exists to bring blind individuals together — to share experiences, connect with diverse environments, and discover what’s possible. We help people adapt to the world while educating the community about accessibility and inclusion.
We believe that networking is a path to independence. Meeting others who share similar challenges and goals helps individuals find support, share experiences, and grow stronger together.
COMMUNNITY FIRST
Built for the whole community
Blind & Visually Impaired
Adults adjusting to vision loss or living with blindness who want connection, independence, and community.
Families
Family members who want to understand, support, and participate alongside their loved ones.
Volunteers
UTRGV rehab students and community members who want to make a meaningful difference.
Sponsors & Donors
Businesses and individuals who want to invest in inclusion and community impact across South Texas.
WHAT WE DO
Programs & Activities
Every activity we organize is designed to bring people together, build confidence, and celebrate possibility.
White Cane Day
Our flagship annual event celebrating freedom and independence. Grown from 60 to 300+ participants in 10 years, with 50+ local organizations.
I Paint Workshop
Our signature event — painting in the dark. Both blind and sighted participants explore art through texture, shape, and imagination together.
Wellness Walks & Fitness
1K wellness walks across the RGV, including the Miracle Mile in Edinburg — grown from 1 to 19 participants in six years.
OUR IMPACT
Real Change, Measured in People
“I guess they thought I was dumb, but I am only blind. All I need is a little orientation, a little dot here and there, and then I can do it on my own.”
— Ruben, Visionairies Community Member
